Here at Boston Home, our aim was to create a living space where guests are exposed to a level of home design they didn’t know was possible.
To reach this objective, we are relying on our partners Berkeley Investments and their FP3 building, to provide us a physical space (a penthouse) as well as the talented and inspiring design team at Hacin + Associates to work with us to create the concept for the space and execute the interior design of the home.
We’re moving far beyond the traditional notions of design. Every surface, including the ceilings, present opportunities for unique surface treatments and showcases for new materials, and every room will engage the senses in a different way. Drawing inspiration from the Fort Point neighborhood where post-industrial buildings are being repurposed as high-end modern lofts, we will marry historical touches with contemporary moves while incorporating work by local Fort Point artists.
Being of the time also means working investment pieces in among more affordable things. Call it smart consumerism. Surrounding ourselves with a blend of old, modern, and salvaged objects is more than an economic strategy: In times of uncertainty, well-designed objects from any era and price range give us a sense of continuity.
The Boston Concept Home will be featured in the September 2009 issue of Boston magazine, the Fall 2009 issue of Boston Home, and here, at bostonconcepthome.com. The home will also be open late Summer / early Fall for a series of events in the space.
